Nguyen Duc Bien, head of the Ha Noi steering committee for land clearance, said the land clearance within the city was 95 per cent complete.
He said that the work would be finished before the Lunar New Year (January 22), but that it would be a challenge to complete everything before the January 10 deadline.
The Ha Noi People's Committee has requested land to relocate 22 households that were forced to move, while the People's Committees of the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc, Yen Bai and Lao Cai, where the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway will run, have been told to urgently complete the construction of relocation areas so the new residents can move in.
The Prime Minister asked cities and provinces to take specific measures to resolve all problems with households that had not agreed on compensation or those that had not handed over land after accepting compensation. They were also asked to prevent illegal encroachment on land that had already been cleared.
The Ministry of Transport was asked to closely co-operate with the localities to fulfil land clearance work and provide guidance for investors to ensure progress and quality.
