Luu Van Te, 50,0 in Tung I village, Buon Triet Commune, Lak District, Dak Lak province with thousands of tumors all over his body. The right buttock tumor weighs up to 10kg.

That is the plight of Mr. Luu Van Te, 50, from Tung I village, Buon Triet commune, Lak District, Dak Lak Province. This man can make people frightened by thousands of tumors covering his body from the feet to the head. In thousands of tumors, there is a huge one on his right buttocks weighing 10kg. On his head, there is another big, red tumor which looks to almost nearly flow out blood and pus. Therefore, the man was shunned and discriminated, especially those who met him for the first time.

Te was born in Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province, the 3rd child in a family of seven brothers and sisters. Te looked normal until the age of 13. One day a tumor that was as big as half of a lemon appeared on his right cheek. The tumor grew day after day. In 1984, when he was 21 years old, when he took his younger sister to a hospital, a doctor advised him to cut off the tumor.

After the surgery, Te married Chu Thi Nguyet, born in 1965. Suddenly, one day the tumor on his right cheek appeared again and kept growing on his face. Since then many other tumors appeared on his whole body, making him depression and his life completely changed.

In 1988, Te and his family moved to Lak District, Dak Lak Province. His family had about 500m2 of land for rice cultivation but the family had to sell to have money for medical treatment for Te and his two children.

For many years he went to many hospitals but he said the doctors did not diagnose the disease. "The tumors prevent me from eating, sleeping and working. I always feel tingling and acute pain like being bitten by insects inside my bone marrow," he said.

Te’s daughter and son also suffer from the same disease. The eldest daughter is Luu Thi Ngoan, 27, and her brother Luu Van Tuan, 19, had their first tumors at the age of 1-2. Both Ngoan and Tuan were examined many times at the Cancer Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City. The doctors said they suffered from "blood vessel and neuroma tumors, blood infection."

Te said the family only wishes to have money to cure their children. Ngoan currently works for a family in Dak Nong province to make money for treatment, while Tuan stayed at home with his parents.

Te said: "If I knew this I would have not got married. Whatever--it happens to me, but my kids have their future..."
