Minister Dung made the statement at Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s meeting with FDI enterprises and the annual Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) themed “FDI enterprises pioneer in green growth strategies” on March 19 in Hanoi.

In his opening speech, Minister Dung highlighted the importance of the foreign-invested sector as part of the national economy, adding that the sector has played a major role in attracting investment and cutting-edge technologies, as well as improving management methods and expanding export markets.

Minister Dung affirmed that the participation of Prime Minister Chinh in the event has demonstrated the Government leader’s special attention to and companionship with the business community in general and FDI enterprises in particular.

He revealed that the PM has recently approved the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021 to 2030 period with a vision towards 2050.

Accordingly, the strategy clearly identifies green growth as an important solution to further promote economic restructuring in association with innovating growth models, thereby improving competitiveness and reducing greenhouse gas emissions towards a carbon neutral economy in the long term.

In line with this, the business community has played a crucial role in accompanying domestic enterprises in implementing the goals of the green growth strategy due to their strengths in capital, technology, management, network, and market. 

Sharing this perspective, Nitin Kapoor, co-chairman of the VBF, said the event has proved foreign firms’ determination to operate in Vietnam, one of the fastest growing economies in the world, noting that green growth has played an important role for the country.

He underlined the importance of standing side by side with the nation and achieve the goal of future green growth.

At the forum, representatives from foreign business associations in Vietnam such as BritCham, AmCham, KoCham, JCCI, and EuroCham also delivered presentations to evaluate huge opportunities for co-operation in the Vietnamese market.

At the same time, they also put forth recommendations and solutions to further improve the business climate moving forward.
