As one of the rare female artists in Vietnam who has made her mark with both literature and visual arts, Hang constantly shifts between the duality of these worlds.
Although the contemporary art world is moving at a fast pace, the artist has allowed herself to be quiet and to contemplate for nearly two years before returning with the series “Dew Drips, Smog Seeps: Sculptural Lament Collection.”
In “Dew Drips, Smog Seeps,” Hang seeks to emphasize the instances and spontaneity in life.
The moments that seem to pass in the blink of an eye are just as important as the maintenance of a single thought.
The direct interaction between the artist and the works appears within each dent, layers of paper and the barren bamboo roots that she collected from Cam Ranh.
When all converge, “Dew drips, Smog seeps” reveals the liberation for her own consciousness and suggests possibilities to approach the “last chapter” of one’s life. This makes viewers wonder if it is the end or it signals a new path that is about to open.
