VietNamNet Bridge – Works by members of the HCM City-based Ngan Ha (the Milky Way) Women Artists Club are on show at an exhibition held to mark the 81st anniversary of the Women's Union, October 20.

The 58 lacquer and oil on canvas works by 19 artists are predominantly about women, flowers, tranquil landscapes, and the beauty of life.

Femininity, for instance, is a recurring theme in a number of oils like Hue Girls by Tuyet Hien and Young Lady by Thai Thu.

The former portrays charming, gentle Hue girls clad in ao dai (traditional robes), while the latter features a beautiful girl sitting quietly in a flower garden, conveying a deep sense of contemplative solitude.

Many works at the exhibition depict Viet Nam's flowers and fruits.

Duyen Tran, Nguyet Que, and Yen Truc focus on the country's landscapes, including small boats floating on rivers and gardens shimmering in sunlight.

Ngan Haø was established in 1999 under the aegis of the HCM City Women's Cultural House to bring together women artists of all ages and promote exchanges.

The proceeds from the exhibition will go to a HCM City fund to assist underprivileged children.

The exhibition at the HCM City's Fine Arts Association, 218A Pasteur Street, District 3, will run through September 27.
