The champion of the women’s standard chess of the 2013 National First Division Chess Tournament, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung has officially earned a place in Vietnamese chess team to attend the 27th SEA Games thanks to her good performances.
Nguyen Thi Mai Hung is the pride of Bac Giang province. She was discovered several years ago and has been invested heavily to become one of the pillars of the national women's chess team. In 2013, she won the bronze medal at the U20 Asia Championships and the championship at the national competition.
At the 27th SEA Games, chess players will compete for 18 sets of medals. In addition to the familiar contents in international competition systems such as standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess, the host country Myanmar will also include many new contents. With the current power, the national chess team of Vietnam is expected to have a golden season in Myanmar.
In the last ten years at the SEA Games, the Vietnamese chess team always played very well. Most recently, at the 26th SEA Games in 2011, Vietnam was the chess champion with eight gold medals.
