Thai Son Nam women team of Vietnam won the champion title at an international futsal tournament for Southeast Asian clubs, which concluded in Indonesia on January 18.

After two victories against UPI Bandung of Indonesia (4-2) Felda of Malaysia (4-2), Thai Son Nam met UNJ Jakarta of Indonesia in the final round. Although the Vietnamese players held a 2 - 2 draw UNJ with Jakarta, they became the champion thanks to their previous results that helped them earned 7 points, or 2 points higher than the Indonesian opponents.

Thai Son Nam female futsal team was awarded US$4,000 in cash prize.

In the competition for male teams, Hai Phuong Nam squad of Vietnam had a 2 - 2 draw in their first match against defending champion IPC FC of Indonesia. However, Vietnamese players lost 4-6 to Felda of Malaysia before they met Libido FC of Indonesia) and fixed the score at 3 – 3 in their final match to secure the third place.

Hai Phuong Nam received a cash prize worth US$1,500.

The international futsal tournament for Southeast Asian clubs was held by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) in Jakarta from Jan. 16 – 18 for both male and female players. This year’s event drew the participation of three countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
