Various cultural activities will be organised between April 19 and 23 on the western outskirts of Hanoi to celebrate Viet Nam Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day.

Various bamboo music instrument of ethnic groups will be exhibited and performed at the event. 


Themed Melodies in Forest and Mountain, the festival will include an exhibition that features bamboo-made musical instruments by Ê Đê, Mường, Tà Ôi and Thái ethnic groups. 

Artists from these communities will perform with these traditional instruments.

They will perform music shows as well as traditional worship ceremonies such as the ancestors worship ceremony by Lô Lô group from the northern province of Ha Giang, and the water worship ceremony by Thổ group from the central province of Nghe An.

There will also be another exhibition on bamboo fine art handicraft products.

On Sunday morning, that is, on April 23, visitors can join in a tug-of-war game and other folk games at the site.

Hundreds of people will participate in the cultural event, from the northern provinces of Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Thai Nguyen and Ha Giang to the central provinces of Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue; and from the central highlands of Dak Lak to the southern province of Soc Trang.

The event is being hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to celebrate Viet Nam’s Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day, which falls on April 19. 

It will be held at the Viet Nam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Son Tay District, 45km west of Hanoi’s centre.
