Festive Tet atmosphere prevails on every corner of capital
With the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) just around the corner, streets across the capital have begun bustling with colours of peach blossoms and crowds of people shopping for Tet.
With Tet just a couple of weeks away, many families in Hanoi purchase peach branches to decorate their houses, expecting the New Year will bring happiness, good luck and prosperity.
All streets, entertainment centres and markets have been colourfully decorated to ring in the New Year, giving young people the chance to pose for memorable photos.
Some people share that they enjoy a stroll around Hanoi’s streets these days in order to soak up the festive atmosphere ahead of Tet.
Popular items used as offerings to the ancestors or as gifts during Tet go on sale in many wet markets.
Ceramic products sell well in markets as Tet comes near.
Hoa Cúc (chrysanthemum) and roses are much sought after in markets these days as they are preferred by housewives as offerings to the ancestors.

Coriander is also much sought after in the wet markets. People, especially in northern Vietnam, believe that a bath using coriander removes misfortunates of the old year and welcomes in good things for the new year.
Many decorative Tet items are being sold along the 300-metre-long Hang Ma street. Crowds are busy buying items to decorate their houses or office buildings.
The banks of Ho Guom, also known as Returned Sword Lake, provide a beautiful background for many people to come and take photos for the upcoming lunar year of the dragon.
