VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnamese team is still placed second in the Southeast Asia region on 146 points, 61 points less than Thailand, according to the latest FIFA rankings.

Vietnam drops 26 notches in FIFA rankings

The top three in Asia remain unchanged with Japan showing its domination on 793 points, followed by Australia and the Republic of Korea.

Spain continues its top position in the world with 1,617 points, with Germany in second after accruing 1,437 points.

Third place is held by the UK on 1,274 points while Portugal has overcome Uruguay to claim fourth position.

Greater shifts in the rankings are expected this September due to a large number of fixtures for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and a dozen friendlies set for Southeast Asia.

Vietnam will have the chance to reclaim first position from Thailand this month if the side has convincing results in friendlies against Malaysia and Indonesia.
