On New Year’s Day 2025, FIFA sent a heartfelt message to the Vietnam national team ahead of their first-leg final against Thailand in the 2024 ASEAN Cup.

At the stroke of midnight marking the start of 2025, the official FIFA Facebook page shared a post featuring the words "Spring awaits glory!" accompanied by a specially designed poster.

The poster prominently showcased three Vietnamese football stars: forwards Nguyen Xuan Son and Nguyen Tien Linh, alongside winger Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha, often referred to as the "sideline tornado."

The imagery also incorporated Vietnam’s "Golden Dragon" emblem (the nickname of the team, along with the "Golden Star Warriors") and iconic national landmarks such as the Hanoi Flag Tower, Ha Long Bay, and the Golden Bridge.

This thoughtful gesture highlights FIFA's recognition and support for the Vietnamese team as they prepare for the highly anticipated first-leg final of the 2024 ASEAN Cup.

The path to glory

Vietnam will host the first leg of the final against Thailand at Viet Tri Stadium at 8:00 PM on January 2, 2025.

The return leg is scheduled three days later at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium, also at 8:00 PM.

With FIFA’s message of encouragement and the backing of their passionate home crowd, the Vietnam national team is poised to chase glory in this year’s ASEAN Cup.
