VietNamNet Bridge – A Filipino man left his hotel in the early morning and did not return. His family has searched for him for over ten days but they have not found out any trace.

Edwin De la Cruz, 47, arrived in HCM City on the evening of April 19, with his mother and sister. They stayed at Hoang Phuong Hotel on Le Thanh Ton Road, District 1.

At around 4am of the next day, he told his mother that he went out to buy some bottles of water but he did not return to the hotel. The man’s mother and sister tried to find him the next morning but their effort failed. They reported the missing case to local police.

The missing man’s family has searched for him everywhere, including hospitals, but until May 2 they did not see him.

Ms. Catherine, the man’s elder sister, told a local newspaper that Edwin has a wife and three children. Edwin, his mother and younger sister traveled to Cambodia and then to HCM City. They had planed to stay in HCM City for two days and go back to their country. However, after several hours staying in the hotel, Edwin has gone missing.

The man’s mother and younger sister have returned home. Only Catherine is now in HCM City to wait for information about his brother. She has traveled around Saigon to seek for his brother. She also sent posters with his brother’s portrait to police stations and pasted them at hospitals, bus stops, etc.

At home, Edwin’s younger sister made a clip of Edwin and his family and posted it to Youtube and some social networks.

The case was also reported to the Filipino Consulate General in HCM City. This agency asked for help from the HCM City Foreign Affairs Department and related agencies to search the missing man.
