Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung met with Paul Andrew, Senior Vice President of the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in the US on July 2.

The meeting took place on the sideline of an investment promotion conference themed “My Vietnam- your investment destination” which is taking place in New York City from July 1-4.

Minister Dung said his ministry hopes to strengthen cooperation with the FINRA through experience exchange and asked for technical and training support to boost its capacity of the domestic market management.

Andrews on his part discussed matters of Vietnam’s interest including detecting and handling market wrongdoings, protecting investors, and monitoring market members.

FINRA is dedicated to investor protection and market integrity through effective and efficient regulation of the securities industry. It is currently monitoring some 4000 US stock companies that consist of more than 16,000 branches.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Minister had a meeting with Bob Greifeld, CEO of Nasdaq-OMX Stock Market, Inc., the largest electronic screen-based equity securities market in the US.

Greifeld shared his company’s development strategies and management using advanced technology.

On his part, Dung expressed his wish that Nasdaq-OMX and Vietnamese stock exchanges will continue sound collaboration based on relevant bilateral pacts signed in recent years.
