Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has officially appointed Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang as chairman of the Vietnam Social Security Council, succeeding Ho Duc Phoc, who was recently promoted to Deputy Prime Minister.

The decision, signed by the Prime Minister, grants Nguyen Van Thang a five-year term in his new role, overseeing Vietnam’s national social security policies.

The Vietnam Social Security is a specialized agency under the Ministry of Finance, responsible for implementing policies related to:

Social insurance

Health insurance

Unemployment benefits

Management and allocation of national insurance funds

Vietnam Social Security  also plays a crucial role in developing and refining national policies on social security, collaborating with government bodies to propose legislative improvements.
