The event is organized by BCG annually on December 12, the Global Cyber Security Day, aiming to honor the world’s excellent leaders.

This year's conference marks the next step in the development of BCG and the Michael Dukakis Institute (MDI) in the pursuit of the mission of gathering global intellectual elites to discuss and propose useful solutions to address human’s urgent issues in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

With effective policies, the Finnish government has been effectively utilizing the achievements of AI technology to build up a smart government that best serves its citizens. In recognition of the Finnish government's advanced thinking and solutions, BCG decided to honor President Sauli Niinisö as World Leader for Peace and Security.

The Finnish President had a speech showing his pleasure and pride in being honored via a live video broadcasted at the conference.

Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono also delivered speech of congratulating Finnish President Sauli Niinistö.

The conference brought together leading AI and cyber security experts from Harvard, MIT and Tufts with the theme on using AI to solve false information for the sake of the safe and transparent Internet environment.

At this conference, BGF and MDI organized a special lecture on the Artificial Intelligence World Society (AIWS) by Liam Byrne, member of the Birmingham Parliament, a presentation by Cam Hickey from the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Kennedy Government School of Harvard University.

AI is a new field that is hoped to bring enormous changes in the fields of social life. AI is both a great opportunity and a challenge for the future of humanity. BGF and MDI have launched the initiatives on Artificial Intelligence Society and the Artificial Intelligence Government which have been welcomed by the elite of the world's governments, organizations and technology firms.

At present, BGF & MDI have big strategic partners. As scheduled, from June 24-26, 2019 in Washington, DC in the US, MDI and its partners will host a conference to announce a model of Artificial Intelligence Government - an innovative product of the 7-layer AIWS model.

The first Global Cybersecurity Day was held on December 12, 2015, when the awards were presented to Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The recipients were the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in 2016 and Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in 2017.

The conference always brings together the world’s top leaders, professors and scholars such as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan; Professors Joseph Nye, Mykko Hypponen, Bruce Schneier, Tom Patterson and John Savage.
