VietNamNet Bridge –  Fire destroyed a furniture shop and damaged several houses in Quang Ninh Province’s Mao Khe Town in late evening on Monday. There were fortunately no casualties.

The fire started at about 9.30pm at Tung Hang furniture shop. The flames quickly spread to at least four adjacent houses, a local witness said.

On being informed by residents, provincial firefighting and transport police forces deployed firefighters and three fire-trucks to the site. One hour later, the fire was completely extinguished.

“The fire destroyed all the property of the furniture shop,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Tu, from Quang Ninh Province’s transport police office said.

The cause of fire was not clear, he said, adding that the investigation was underway.

According to latest news from the Dong Trieu District Police, the damage from the fire is estimated at VND10 billion (US$ 447,500), including two cars.

The people’s committees of Quang Ninh Province and Dong Trieu have each supported the shop owner with VND10 million. They also called on local residents to donate money to help affected households.
