VietNamNet Bridge – A ship carrying 10,000 liters of petrol exploded and burnt out on the afternoon of March 21 on the Xang Na canal in the southern province of Bac Lieu.
The fire was ten meters high. Black smoke rose high, covering a vast area, threatening other ships.
Dozens of houses located along the canal also suffered from the heat.
Around 100 anti-fire police officers and five truck engines were sent to the site to stamp out the fire.
In hot weather and at low tide, it was very difficult for police to approach the ship. After over an hour, the fire was put down.
The fire didn’t harm any humans but it burnt down the entire ship and oil.
Police said that the ship carried 10,000 liters of petrol but the owner of the boat is still unknown.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are under examination.
