A firework display will light up the skies above Ho Chi Minh City later next month to celebrate 44 years of southern liberation on National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975) and the 133rd May Day (May 1, 1886).

The display will be set off between 9 pm and 9:15 pm on April 30 from a number of locations across the city.

These include the roof of Thu Thiem tunnel on the Saigon river in district 2, Dam Sen Cultural Park in district 11, and Vinhomes Central Park in Binh Thanh district.

The firework displays, which are to be funded through social sources, will be broadcast live by the HCM City Television Station.

Many cultural and sports activities are also set to take place to celebrate National Reunification Day and May Day, according to the Ho Chi Minh City municipal People’s Committee.
