VietNamNet Bridge – Organizations and enterprises in Vietnam are running short of information security personnel, says a survey by the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT).

The survey reveals more than half of local agencies, organizations and enterprises do not have their own information security staff. Some 24% of them have to hire professional service providers to help enhance their information security.

Over 83% of State agencies seek a unified information security training program for the whole nation. Nearly 60% of respondents said information security personnel must have information security certificates.

Hoang Dang Hai, deputy director of VNCERT, said the survey unveiled a high demand for information security training.

Therefore, VNCERT is joining hands with the Vietnam Information Security Association (VNISA) to map out a framework curriculum for information security training, based on which training facilities can develop appropriate content. The curriculum is designed with reference to international experience in order to allow trainees to accumulate course credits and acquire related international certificates.

“The curriculum will consist of appropriate training content for three different groups of trainees, namely managers, technical staff and IT users in government agencies, organizations and businesses,” said Hai.

As per the national plan for information security development towards 2020, Vietnam will need 1,000 specialists to guarantee information security at State agencies and the critical information systems.
