Walter Isaacson, who has been the chairman and CEO of CNN and the Managing Editor of Time, currently is the chairman of the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors. He has written best-sellers on Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein and Henry Kissinger.
"This is the perfect match of subject and author, and it is certain to be a landmark book about one of the world's greatest innovators. Just as he did with Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, Walter Isaacson is telling a unique story of revolutionary genius," Simon & Schuster Publisher Jonathan Karp said in the statement, which was released to Bloomberg and other U.S. media outlets.
Jobs, 56, announced in January that he would take a medical leave from Apple to "focus on his health." His life and career have been depicted in many biographies, but none of them is with his authorization.
