On December 7, the 9th National Patriotic Emulation Congress praised and honored 97 outstanding units in the movement "The entire country joins hands to build the new-style rural area".

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung - Chairman of the Council for Emulation and Reward – presented the First-class Labour Medal for 13 provinces and cities, including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, Nam Dinh, Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Hau Giang, Long An, Lao Cai, and Lai Chau.

The First-class Labor Medal was also presented to 14 ministries, branches and mass organizations by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, including:

The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs,  Central Committee for Public Relations, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Vietnam Farmers’ Association, People’s Newspaper, Vietnam Television, State Bank of Vietnam,  Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Cement Corporation, and Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN).

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung awarded the Government’s emulation flags to 10 new-style rural districts, including: Dan Phuong (Hanoi), Cu Chi (HCM City), Hoc Mon (HCM City), Nha Be (HCM City), Hai Hau (Nam Dinh), Dong Trieu (Quang Ninh), Xuan Loc (Dong Nai), Long Khanh (Dong Nai), Don Duong (Lam Dong), and Nga Bay (Hau Giang).

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh awarded the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to 60 communes.

The 9th National Patriotic Emulation Congress took place in Hanoi on December 6-7, with the participation of 1,800 delegates under the theme "Unity, creation, construction emulation and national protection".

The congress saw the presence of outstanding people who have excelled in such areas as politics, economics, social affairs, national defence, and security.

The event aims to review the implementation of goals and missions on patriotic emulation movements and honor excellent examples in these movements in the 2011-2015 period.
