The first-ever contest for designing sculptures and architectural symbols for public places has been launched for Vietnamese citizens.
Each artist or group of artists can submit a maximum of three designs of special outdoor public places in Vietnam. Competitors should send a photo of the sculpture (18 by 24cm), as well as a photo of the sculpture in the space (office, building, urban area or park) the artist would like to see it installed (29.7 by 42cm).
Entries should be sent to the Fine Arts and Exhibition Department, 38 Cao Ba Quat Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi or emailed to phongmythuatcmt@gmail.com from August 1 to 5, 2016.
The organizing board will award one first prize of VNĐ50 million (US$2,200), two second prizes of VNĐ25 million each, three third prizes and 10 encouragement prizes.
“We decided to host this contest as we recognised the lack of sculptures in outdoor public places. On the other hand, there are too many sculptures in foreign styles in the new urban zones in Hanoi, such as the Royal City or Ciputra,” Vi Kien Thanh, head of the department, said.
