VietNamNet Bridge – For the first time, a Hollywood 3D cartoon is dubbed in Vietnamese under a project of MegaStar and the 20th Century Fox.

Actress Minh Hang.

Some popular young actors were invited to dub this cartoon, entitled “Rio”, a movie about a parrot named Rio. Actress Minh Hang plays the parrot, “Jewel.”  Actor Minh Tiep plays parrot “Blu”, and actor Dai Nghia plays wise bird “Rafael.”

The voice dubbing is carried out under the supervision of American experts.

The Vietnamese dialogues are translated in Vietnam while songs are translated in the US. Vietnamese musicians then edit the songs. Vietnamese artists sing the songs and send them back to the US for editing.

Casting and voice dubbing procedures are overseen by Director Carlos Saldanha and the “Rio” film crew of the 20th Century Fox to ensure the quality of the voice dubbing.

“We try with a cartoon first because it is easier for dubbing cartoon characters. For feature films, the audience may like the true voices of characters than dubbing,” a representative of MegaStar said.

Megastar will decide whether to continue making voice dubbing for Hollywood movies after it receives feedback from the audience of “Rio”.

“Rio” will be screened in Vietnam on April 8, a week before North America, with three versions: 2D movie with subtitle, 3D with subtitle and 3D with voice dubbing.
