Cam Ranh is the final stopover of the one-and-a half month voyage of mother vessel Rolldock Sea, beginning in Russia’s St Peterburg city.

Accompanying the vessel were five experts from the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg along with submarine Hanoi HQ 182 to Vietnam.

They will be in charge of final competition work before handing over 636 Varshavyanka-class submarine to the Vietnam Naval Force.

Earlier on December 27, Russian news agency Iterfax AVN quoted the shipbuilding industry source as saying that the 636 Varshavyanka-class submarine that Russia built for Vietnam will be handed over on December 30 at Cam Ranh seaport.

Vietnam signed a contract to buy six 636 Varshavyanka-class submarines in 2009 during Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Russia.

636 Hanoi kilo submarine is equipped with the most hi-tech, modern facilities, capable of defending the country’s maritime sovereignty.
