Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc has earned a a berth at the 2012 London Olympics after snatching a bronze medal at the Asian Race Walking Championships in Japan on March 11.
The 22-year-old woman from Danang clocked one hour and 35 minutes in the 20km race to successfully qualify for Olympic Standard B.

Phuc won a gold medal in the same race at the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia last year with a time of 1h43'22 ''.

In the men's event, Phuc's younger brother Nguyen Thanh Ngung finished sixth after 1h27', but failed to meet Olympic Standard B. However, he broke his national record.
