VietNamNet Bridge – Part of the West Lake in Hanoi has been covered by thousands of dead fish for a week, causing serious pollution.

Dead fish have appeared for a week and they float to the shore.





Most of them are tilapias.











Deaf fish and rubbish…





… make the pollution more serious in Hanoi’s largest fresh-water lake.





Some are up to a kilo in weight.

















Nguyen Phuc Quang, chief of the West Lake Management Board, said that fish are dead
 because of polluted water discharged to the West Lake from families and r
estaurants on Thuy Khue road. He said the board has hired a waste
 treatment enterprise to clean up the lake’s surface.
