VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City police have arrested five people for allegedly stealing 40 tons of soybeans worth at least VND340 million (US$16,200) from Nha Rong – Khanh Hoi Port in June.



Police last Thursday held Pham Van Dung or Dung Rau, 46, a driver for a local transport company, who is the suspected head of the gang involved in the thefts.

After that, Dung's four accomplices -  Nguyen Van Diem, 36, Duong Kim Dang, 35, Le Huu Linh, 32, and Pham Duc Tam, 25 (the last two being employees of the port) were also arrested.
The five men were accused of stealing soybean of the Dong Nai-based animal feed manufacturer Proconco Joint Stock Company when this firm hired Dung's company to transport 8,300 tons of the product from the port.

Dung sold the stolen soybean to Nguyen Thi Kim Quyen, the owner of an animal-feed shop in HCM City's District 9, for VND340 million. The money was shared to Dang VND65 million ($3,100), Diem VND33 million, Tam VND30 million, and Linh VND20 million.

These men have handed in the money to the police.
