VietNamNet Bridge - By October 31, the deadline for registration for the Vietnam Tourism Ambassador selection, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism did not receive any new profile, except for the five candidates who registered from early this year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the Ministry’s International Cooperation Department, said the five candidates include actress Lan Phuong, Miss Tourism Huynh Thi Ngoc Han, foreign language teacher Do Thi Hong Thuan, Miss Southeast Asia Dieu Han, the 1st runner-up of the Miss U.S.A Asia 2012 Chau Mong Nhu. All candidates sent their action plans to promote Vietnam tourism to the Ministry.

After the evaluation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will announce the new tourism ambassador in late December. In addition, the International Cooperation Department will consult experts on regulations on the activities of the Tourism Ambassadors. Accordingly, the term will be extended to two years and Vietnam will have many Tourism Ambassadors for different markets and specific activities.

The International Cooperation Agency also proposes to waive the requirement on the candidates’ education since the social influence of celebrities does not depend on their education and age.

Actress Nguyen Lan Phuong was born in 1983 in Hanoi. She is a drama artist, a dancer, movie and television actor and a host. Lan Phuong was Vietnam's Peace Ambassador in Fukuoka, Japan in 1998 and 2008. In 2009, she was Vietnam’s representative on the Southeast Asian Youth cruise ship "SSEAYP 2009" organized by the Japanese government. In 2011, she joined the voyage on the Nivea Blue Boat Cruise in Hamburg, Germany, with more than 3,000 delegates from 50 countries. In 2013, she went to Tokyo, Japan to perform and participate in art exchanges within the framework of cooperation between the two countries.

Huynh Thi Ngoc Han was born in 1986 in Can Tho City. She is known as Miss Tourism of the Miss Vietnam Ethnic 2011 pageant. Ngoc Han participated in the promotion of ethnic culture in the world and organized many events to promote Vietnam’s culture - tourism in Australia. Currently Ngoc Han is the community relations officer of the Brisbane City Council (Australia) and the International Student Ambassador of Brisbane.

English teacher Do Thi Hong Thuan was born in 1985, graduated from the Foreign Trade University in 2008. She is living with her family in Tu Lien ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi. Hong Thuan was an excellent student at general schools and won the Peace Scholarship to study in Australia in 2008.

Le Thi Dieu Han was born in 1990 in Dong Nai province. She reached the final of Miss Vietnam World 2010 pageant. In late 2012, Dieu Han crowned Miss Southeast Asia in Thailand. Currently, she is a student of Hoa Sen University, HCM City.

Chau Mong Nhu was born in 1988 in Dong Nai province and graduated from the Hutech University, HCM City. She won the title of the 1st runner up at Miss Asia USA in 2012. Currently she is the director of her own media company. The slogan of Mong Nhu in her "election campaign" is: "Vote for me vote, vote for Vietnam Tourism."
