The one-floor 36sq.m house, located in a narrow alley on Do Xuan Hop Street, District 9, was engulfed by flames at 4am.

A 70-year-old woman, her son, two daughters and daughter-in-law all perished in the blaze.

Le Van Bong, brother-in-law of the 70-year-old victim, told e-newspaper Zing that the house had no fire exit.

Neighbour Ngo Thi Trang said the house was very small with four to five motorbikes parked in front of it, blocking the way out.

“There were explosion sounds from the motorbikes. The door was burned,” she said.

The fire is now under control and the cause being investigated. — VNS
