Queen of the South East Asia medium-range running track – Truong Thanh Hang – will be absent at the 2013 SEA Games because of the injuries caused by a traffic accident while training. The heavy foot injury forces Hang to break up with the SEA Games despite her practicing efforts. According to experts, Hang’s absence means that Vietnam will lose two gold medals for the women’s 1,500 m and 800 m running.

Phan Thi Ha Thanh (gymnastics)

The reason for Ha Thanh’s absence at the 27th SEA Games just because Vietnam gymnasts played excellently in the previous SEA Games, winning up to 11 out of 14 gold medals. With no chance to win medal in this sports, the host country Myanmar rejected gymnastics from the competition program. If this sport is organized, Ha Thanh will surely win at least two gold medals, experts say.

This is a big loss for Vietnam in the context of some other pillars that have quit their career, while Hoang Ngan and Nguyet Anh have not got the best bounce back after recovery from injuries. Phuong’s absence is equivalent to two gold medals.

Failing to recover from trauma surgery, the 1m96 player has to say goodbye to the SEA Games this year. For nearly a decade, Kieu is the most famous volleyball player in Vietnam, who played in Indonesia in 2008-2010. The most outstanding achievement of Kieu was his invaluable contribution to Vietnam men's volleyball team to overthrow Thailand in the 24th SEA Games 24. At the 25th and 26th SEA Games, Hieu also played very well.
