The absolute strength from Becamex Binh Duong, the impressive return of former champions, and poor performance by central teams were among the five most notable events of the Toyota V-League 1-2015 second round that concluded last weekend.
1. Becamex Binh Duong boast absolute power
Defending V-League champions Becamex Binh Duong continued demonstrating awesome power in their 2015 V-League campaign. After demolishing Dong Thap 6-1 in the first round, Binh Duong went on to crush QNK Quang Nam 4-2 in the second last weekend, making them the top goal scorers (10) after just two games of play.
2. Former champions make stunning returns
Former champions Hanoi T&T and Song Lam Nghe An got their first win at the 2015 V-League despite having to play on away turf against tough opponents. Hanoi T&T edged out Quang Ninh Coal 1-0 to join the leading group with four points, while Nghe An redeemed their first-round loss with a stunning 2-1 victory over SHB Da Nang.
3. A sad round for central teams
Representatives from the central region suffered losses in the second round, with Hoang Anh Gia Lai, QNK Quang Nam and Thanh Hoa failing to overwhelm their opponents. In particular, former champions SHB Da Nang disappointed with their second consecutive defeat in this year’s season, and failed to escape from the bottom group with zero points.
4. Big surprise by LG Hai Phong
LG Hai Phong were the only team to keep a clean sheet as the Toyota V-League 1-2015 second round concluded yesterday. Despite being considered underdogs ahead of the tournament, they surprisingly rallied to straight victories against Song Lam Nghe An and Thanh Hoa, and jumped to second in the temporary standings with six points, just behind leaders Becamex Binh Duong, due to an inferior goal difference.
5. Domestic player impresses
The 2015 V-League is showing the emergence of domestic strikers, including Nguyen Tang Tuan, who has been delivering an extremely impressive performance in the colour of Becamex Binh Duong. Tuan scored a double in Binh Duong’s first-round 6-1 win over Dong Thap before striking another to help his team beat QNK Quang Nam 4-2 in the second round last weekend. Tuan is also currently taking lead of the scoring tally with four goals.
