Cong Vinh (centre) fails on the penalty spot, Song Lam Nghe An lose points at home.

1. Thanh Hoa extend unbeaten streak to nine matches

Despite sharing points with Hoang Anh Gia Lai last weekend, Thanh Hoa maintained their ‘unique’ position atop the provisional standings with 23 points as a result of their amazing nine-game unbeaten run of seven wins and two draws. With their safe six-point advantage over second-place Becamex Binh Duong, Thanh Hoa is bound to top the V-League table for at least one more round.

2. Quang Ninh Coal suffer shocking loss

After two consecutive losses, to Vicem Hai Phong and Hanoi T&T, Quang Ninh Coal headed to Tam Ky Stadium for an away clash against QNK Quang Nam looking to taste once more the flavour of victory. However, their expectations were dealt a death blow by a much stronger Quang Nam side, and they conceded six goals while only notching three of their own.

3. Hung Vuong An Giang end losing streak

Hung Vuong An Giang had been immersed in unceasing failure against strong and weak opponents alike since their second-round 0-0 draw with Dong Nai. However, An Giang ended their misfortune by tying 2-2 with XM The Vissai Ninh Binh in their tenth-round clash. This precious draw will surely boost An Giang’s spirit and confidence during the remainder of this year’s V-League season.

4. Cong Vinh misses penalty, Nghe An lose points on home field

Striker Le Cong Vinh hit the historic milestone of scoring 100 V-League goals eight days ago with a successful penalty conversion, propelling Song Lam Nghe An past Vicem Hai Phong in the ninth round. However, Vinh caused great disappointment in the tenth-round match against Dong Nai this weekend, failing from the penalty spot and forcing Nghe An to concede a 0-1 loss on their home field.

5. A nightmare for host teams

QNK Quang Nam was the only host team to win their match in Round 10 as they beat Quang Ninh Coal 6-3. In three of the five other matches, the guests returned home with the full three points. Some hosts conceded dreadful defeats, with Dong Tam Long An losing 1-6 to Hanoi T&T and SHB Da Nang succumbing 1-3 to Becamex Binh Duong.
