VietNamNet Bridge - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has permitted five provinces to use more than 1,260 hectares of rice land and protective forest to implement a number of projects and works.
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Prime Minister has allowed the provinces of Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Tuyen Quang and Nghe An implementing 462 projects and works on this area, as follows.

According to the resolutions of the National Assembly, in 2011-2015, Vietnam targets to maintain at least 3.81 million hectares of paddy land to ensure national food security. After 2015, based on the situation in each province, the target will be re-considered when approving the land use plan from 2016 to 2020.
This decision was made in the context of recent years, the agricultural land increased but in some localities, the rice area was decreased rapidly.
