On the morning of January 2, President Luong Cuong awarded the title of Ambassador to five officials and civil servants of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their contributions in 2024.
The officials receiving the prestigious ambassadorial rank include:
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh
Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai
Deputy Director General and Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ngo Toan Thang
Senior Lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Nguyen Vu Tung
The ambassadorial rank is the highest title in Vietnam's diplomatic service, as stipulated by the Ordinance on Diplomatic Titles and Ranks of 1995.
This title is conferred upon diplomatic officials to serve Vietnam’s foreign affairs both domestically and internationally.
The conferral of ambassadorial ranks, along with other diplomatic titles, reflects the government’s commitment to professionalizing Vietnam’s diplomatic corps.
It also signifies recognition by the Party and State of the invaluable contributions of these officials to national development, security, and diplomacy.
President Luong Cuong congratulated the new ambassadors and urged them to continue their vital contributions to Vietnam’s foreign affairs.
He emphasized their role in maintaining favorable diplomatic relations, enhancing Vietnam’s global positioning, and promoting national interests.
Looking ahead to 2025, the newly appointed ambassadors are expected to play pivotal roles in advancing Vietnam’s diplomatic goals and strengthening the nation’s presence on the international stage.
