For the first time Vietnam has the first overhead highway of 15 km long
for cars only, which can run with speeds up to 100 km per hour.
This highway, after being opened for traffic on October 21,
has immediately contributed to a significant reduction of congestion
on the roads of Nguyen Xien, Khuat Duy Tien and Pham Hung.
Khuat Duy Tien - Nguyen Trai intersection used to be a black spot of
congestion during peak hours. After the overpass highway was inaugurated,
this area has become clear, even during the peak hours.
The road from Nguyen Xien intersection to Pham Hung was formerly
occupied by cars but now motorcycles can travel easier because
cars have the overpass highway.
Intersection of Tay Son - Chua Boc used to be very crowded.
But since the Tay Son - Chua Boc overpass was inaugurated, the route
becomes clear. Local residents said that this area has never
had traffic jams for over half of the year.
Lang Ha overpass was opened at the same time with the Tay Son-Chua Boc
overpass. The vehicles that are allowed to go across the overpass include
motorcycles and cars of 9 seats or less, the maximum speed of 25km/h.
Although bicycles, buses, cars of more than nine seats and trucks of over
3 tons are not permitted to cross the overpass but the traffic in this area
has been also improved remarkably.
Le Van Luong is the longest of the four overpasses built in
Hanoi this year. It is 315 meters long, 9 meters wide, made of
steel beams combined with reinforced concrete.
The total weight of steel beams is up to 1,000 tons.
Having been opened on November 14, the overpass also contributes to
ease traffic congestion in this area.
No more congestion.
Being inaugurated on December 16, Nguyen Chi Thanh - Tran Duy Hung
overpass is the largest of the four overpasses built this year.
After the inauguration, these overpasses have helped the traffic in Hanoi easier.
