The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were deployed and they found the boy’s foster parent Amanda Dinges, 35, and her mother, Amber Dinges, 60, had kidnapped the boy and taken him to Vietnam.
According to the police, the boy was reported missing in late November. The police discovered Amanda Dinges had disconnected her phones, vacated her last known address and fled the area.
The boy’s biological mother was shocked on hearing the news, said Brittany Tri, the mother's attorney.
The Mount Vernon police launched an investigation and found the boy was in Thai Binh, a northern province, about 70km away from Hanoi capital.
The boy was brought back to Seattle on December 16 accompanied by FDI agents and victims’ advocates. He then reunited with his biological mother.
As far as the attorney knows the boy did not have a passport, and she wonders how the boy was able to get out of the US.
