
Before the East-West Avenue was constructed, the market was located at the foot of Lo Gom Bridge.
It has moved deeply into the Tau Hu-Ben Nghe canal. As a result, the market is less crowded.
The major products there are fruits like bananas, papayas, watermelons, pumpkins,
pomelos, etc. from orchards in the southwestern region. Fruits are transported by
boats from the Vam Co River to Saigon River.
Customers are small traders at traditional markets in Saigon and vendors.
The market operates from 4am to 7-8am. On the afternoon, fruit boats also
gather at this area to sell fruits but fruits in the afternoon are not as fresh as those in the morning.
The market is more crowded before the 15th lunar day of every month.
However, the market is being narrowed. Many boats have to dock in
small canals in Districts 2, 12, Cu Chi district.
