VietNamNet Bridge – The multinational Camkytiwa folk quartet will present to HCM City music lovers a collection of Asian folk and traditional music on Saturday.


The quartet, including vocalist Huong Thanh from Viet Nam, erhu player Yan Li from China, koto player Etsuko Chida from Japan, and geomungo player E'Joung Ju from South Korea, will perform folk songs like Sakura, Ariang, and Beo Dat May Troi.


Solo performances in the concert will include: Hototogisu on the koto by Etsuko; Chulgang on gomungo by E'joung Ju; and Red Flower with erhu by Yan Li.


Camkytiwa, meaning Cam (Music), Ky (Chess), Thi (Poetry) and Hoa (Painting), was founded in 2000 by Huong Thanh – who has been instrumental in popularising traditional Vietnamese music among a world audience.


The band, whose members live and work in France, focuses on folk and traditional songs from Asian countries, especially their native lands. They have toured Europe and many other countries.


The concert will begin at 8pm on Saturday at the HCM City Conservatory at 112 Nguyen Du, District 1. Tickets, ranging from VND300,000 to VND1 million (US$14.50 – 48.30), are available at the conservatory's box office.
