VietNamNet Bridge - To avoid unwanted incidents, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has scheduled to invite a police officer to follow the national football squads to Myanmar during the 27th Southeast Asian Games later this month.
According to the VFF, four football teams of Vietnam at the 27th SEA Games – the U23 Vietnam, the women's team, the women’s and men’s futsal teams will be monitored by Mr. Dao Manh Cuong, from the Department of Internal Political Security of the Ministry of Public Security.
However, the VFF is not assured with U23 Vietnam so the federation is planning to invite a staff of C45 - the Ministry of Public Security to follow this team to Myanmar.
The VFF’s move is understandable because this team had previously related to a match-fixing scandal at the 23rd SEA Games and it was suspected to involve in match fixing in some matches at other SEA Games.
The VFF chairman Nguyen Trong Hy has also signed a decision to establish the 27th SEA Games football steering committee.
"In the previous SEA Games, each football team had its own chief but this model did not work, so this time the federation will not appoint the head. A steering committee will be formed to solve problems arising during the SEA Games, such as travel, accommodations, professional support, reward, discipline ... The establishment of a steering committee also aims at solving the obstacles when the football teams are far away from each other while travel is difficult," explains Hy.
