On
the celebration day of the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam-Cambodia
diplomatic relations (June 24, 2012), Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen
Tan Dung and his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Hunsen attended a
State-level inauguration ceremony of border marker No. 314, which is the
last numerical marker on the land border between Kien Giang Province
(Vietnam) and Kam Pot Province (Cambodia).
This shows the high determination of the leaders and the wish of the people of both countries to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
Vietnam and Cambodia also have their close cooperation and mutual support at international and regional forums, such as the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Cooperation, Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation, ASEAN, ASEM and the UN. Cambodia is the ASEAN Chair in 2012 and Vietnam will continue close cooperation with Cambodia to help this country fulfill its great responsibility.

During the last 45 years, the leaders of Vietnam and Cambodia have been determined to foster the traditional solidarity and friendship and fine cooperation between the two countries, considering them an important factor to ensure the success of national construction and defence of each country.
The close cooperation between the two sides have been carried out through such mechanisms as the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee for Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the Meeting on Cooperation and Development between border provinces of Vietnam and Cambodia, and the Investment Promotion Conference which are organized annually, making an important contribution to promoting the friendship and cooperation in all fields.
The economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has developed rapidly. It reached a turnover of over 1.2 billion USD in 2007, 1.6 billion USD in 2008, 1.33 billion USD in 2009, 1.8 billion USD in 2010 and 2.8 billion USD in 2011. Both countries are targeting to raise their two-way trade turnover to 5 billion USD in the next five years.
At present Vietnam has more than 100 licensed investment projects capitalized at over 2.2 billion USD in Cambodia. These projects focus on the areas of telecommunications, banking, energy, rubber trees and agricultural product processing.
