VietNamNet Bridge – A Filipino woman, identified as Amodia Teresita Palacio, has been sentenced to death for transporting a huge volume of drugs to Vietnam.

Palacio, 61, received the death penalty issued by the Hanoi municipal People’s Court on October 30.
She was arrested at Hanoi’s Noi Bai international airport on April 27 while trying to go through customs with 5.5kg of drugs hidden at the bottom of her luggage. She said she would receive as much as US$3,000 for each successful attempt.
Palacio claimed she was hired by her Filipino friend named Joselyn for the first time to smuggle drugs into Vietnam.
However, Vietnamese investigation agencies reported that Palacio had traveled to Vietnam eight times and left Vietnam one day after arriving six times.
She was suspected of transporting drugs on these occasions but there was not adequate evidence against her.
