Three International filmmakers, Jonathan Hyong-Joon Kim, Roger Garcia and Karolina Bielawska have been invited to participate in the jury of the ASEAN Film Awards at the 20th Vietnam Film Festival.

The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s film producer Jonathan Hyong-Joon Kim is well-known for one of the country's highest grossing films, Silmido. The movie attracted nearly 10 million viewers. He received the Daejong Award for Best Picture and Best Executive Producer in 2004.

Roger Garcia has been the Executive Director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society since 2010. He also became the Executive Director of the Asian Film Awards Academy upon its establishment in 2013. He has served as consultant and juror for many international film festivals across the US, Europe and Asia.

Meanwhile, Karolina Bielawska is a director and scriptwriter from Warsaw, Poland. Her short films and documentaries have been shown and won awards at major film festivals in Poland and abroad.

The three filmmakers have participated in or served as jurors for many large film festivals around the world such as the World Premieres Film Festival of Philippines, Shanghai International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, Krakow Film Festival, Chicago Film Festival, and Los Angeles Film Festival.

The 20th Vietnam Film Festival will be held in Da Nang from November 24-28. The film fest aims to honor local cinematographic works featuring traditional characteristics, humanity and creativity, and pay tribute to movie makers and artists who have made outstanding contributions to the national movie industry.

This year’s event themed “Building a modern human movie industry” will include activities such as free outdoor screenings, Vietnamese film week, seminars on the ASEAN film industry and development of the Vietnamese movie sector, an exhibition on Vietnamese cinema, and exchanges between actors, directors, producers and audiences.
