Pham Thu Hang, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the statement at a routine Foreign Ministry press briefing held on July 6 in response to a question regarding information posted on social media that the incident in Dak Lak was caused by ethnic discrimination. Vietnam rejects these false opinions, she added.

This comes following Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, the country’s permanent representative to the UN, speaking at a UN session on counter-terrorism, during which he mentioned the incident which occurred in Dak Lak province on June 11.

The Ambassador emphasised that it was an organised terrorist act and affirmed that relevant organisations and individuals will be handled in relation to their level of violation.

Regarding the recent turmoil in France at the press briefing, Hang said no Vietnamese citizens have so far been affected by the unrest

According to the diplomat, concerning the civil disorder situation occurring in some French cities, the Vietnamese Embassy in France has been keeping close tabs on related developments, deploying personnel to operate hotlines, whilst staying ready to provide timely assistance to Vietnamese citizens in case of difficulties or negative impacts.

Under the guidance of the Ministry, the Embassy has issued recommendations to Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in the European country. In necessary cases, they can contact the embassy via its hotline on 33 01 44 14 64 44; the citizen protection hotline on 84 981 84 84 84; or the email address at baohocongdan@gmail.com.
