Right after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in RoK has actively contacted the Korean authorities to verify the case.

Preliminary reports show about 100 Vietnamese citizens had lost contact after entering RoK for the purpose of traveling through Yangyang International Airport in Gangwon province.

Relevant airlines and travel agencies were required to stop taking new bookings and bringing tourists to Yangyang Island until the end of October 31.

Le Thi Thu Hang, spokesperson for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told media workers on October 25 that the ministry has requested the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK continue to closely monitor the case and keep in contact with the Korean authorities to update information, support searching work, and get ready to roll out citizen protection measures.

The Consular Department under the MoFA was requested to cooperate with domestic authorities and travel companies in Vietnam to find out information about those missing tourists, and at the same time take measures to prevent Vietnamese people who take advantage of travelling to stay illegally in the RoK.
