Foreign suppliers pay US$76.7 million in taxes via online portal

On the first working day after the 2023 Lunar New Year, foreign suppliers such as Facebook, Google and Apple declared and paid taxes worth US$76.7 million.

According to the General Department of Taxation, foreign suppliers paid taxes worth VND1,800 billion (US$76.7 million) via the agency's official portal.

Of the sum, Meta (Facebook) paid EUR34.5 million, Google US$28.8 million, and Apple VND174 billion.

The General Department of Taxation’s portal https://etaxvn.gdt.gov.vn/nccnn/Reques was exclusively developed for foreign suppliers and put in place on March 21 last year.

So far, it has seen 45 suppliers registering and paying taxes.

According to the General Department of Taxation, the above result is a positive signal in the coordination of tax declaration and collection between Vietnamese tax authorities and foreign suppliers right from the beginning of the lunar new year.

This also shows the trust, prestige and serious observance of tax laws by foreign suppliers for e-commerce business and business on digital platforms in the territory of Vietnam.
