Police cordoned off the PNJ gold shop on Nui Thanh Street in Da Nang to collect evidence after the robbery.

Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of Da Nang City Police, confirmed on August 27 that police had arrested a foreign suspect involved in the violent robbery at the PNJ gold shop on Nui Thanh Street.

The incident occurred at 8:51 PM on August 26, when a man disguised as a Grab delivery driver—wearing a green jacket, helmet, and face mask- stormed into the PNJ shop in Hoa Cuong Ward. He smashed the glass display cases with a hammer to steal jewelry.

Notably, before entering the store, the suspect approached from the rear and struck the male security guard seated at the entrance multiple times on the head with a metal-like object, incapacitating him instantly.

Once inside, he quickly stuffed multiple pieces of jewelry into a backpack.

When some bystanders tried to shut the doors to trap him inside, the robber forcefully pushed through the lock and escaped with the loot. He fled on foot, sparking a citywide manhunt.

Police teams, in coordination with related units, conducted an immediate investigation and crime scene examination. The case remains under active investigation.
