According to preliminary information, at around 7:07 a.m. that day, a foreign man and woman entered the T.V. gold shop in Song Cau Ward, owned by M.T.V., born in 1976.

The man allegedly struck up a conversation with V. to distract him, giving the woman an opportunity to approach a glass display case containing gold jewelry.

Noticing that a key had been left in the lock, the woman opened the case and took three gold neck rings with a combined value of about VND208 million ($7,900).

After realizing what was happening, the shop owner immediately raised the alarm, causing the male suspect to drop the stolen items near the display case.

The pair then ran to a white car with license plate 79A-481.XX that was waiting across the street from the gold shop and fled the scene.

After receiving the report, police immediately launched a search for the suspects. At around 8 a.m., roughly an hour after the incident, they were arrested while traveling on National Highway 1D in neighboring Gia Lai Province.
