Passionate about culinary adventures, Samy, a German national, and his girlfriend have spent nearly two years traveling the world, savoring unique dishes in each country they visit.

In Southeast Asia, they have explored Thailand and Malaysia, but Vietnam has held their attention the longest, with extended stays mainly in Da Nang and Hoi An to delve into the local culture and cuisine.

Their most recent adventure involved a 5-star tourist train from Hue to Da Nang. They departed Hue railway station at 7:45 am, arriving in Da Nang at 10:35 am.

Samy discovered this tourist train online and was eager to experience the journey, which connects the heritage sites of Central Vietnam. Arriving early at Hue station, Samy enjoyed a coffee and explored the area before boarding.

Upon boarding, Samy and his girlfriend were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated carriages. They were especially delighted by a carriage featuring artists performing Hue folk songs in a setting reminiscent of the ancient royal court. Adjacent to this carriage was the dining carriage, offering Hue specialties such as banh it, banh bot loc, banh beo, and various beverages.

Opting for a light breakfast, Samy and his girlfriend chose bread, banh bao, banh beo, and banh bot loc. Due to traveling on a weekday, they found the train comfortably uncrowded.

The highlight of their meal was the bread made from green banana flour, introduced by the train staff. Unlike traditional bread made from wheat flour, this unique bread featured a special ingredient and a hearty meat filling with vegetables.

"I've had banh mi many times in Vietnam, but this is the first time I've enjoyed a sandwich made from green banana flour. It's quite unique. The microwave on the train keeps the crust crispy and delicious," Samy remarked.

Samy also praised the banh beo for its softness and juiciness and the banh bot loc for its fragrant, slightly chewy texture with a shrimp flavor.

Beyond the culinary delights, the couple was also captivated by the scenic views along the route. As the train passed through Hai Van Pass, Samy was constantly amazed by the beautiful sights of the sea on one side and mountains on the other, calling it "the most beautiful railway line in Vietnam."

The comfortable 3-hour journey was enhanced by the train's soft seats, air conditioning, and thoughtfully arranged seating to maximize views and encourage conversation. The train stops at Lang Co station for 10 minutes, allowing passengers to take photos and check-in.

With two daily train pairs traveling between Hue and Da Nang, passengers can enjoy both sunrise and sunset over Lang Co Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam and the world.
