Emily is a 24 year-old English teacher from the UK. Last summer, Emily volunteered in a school in Cambodia and arranged to have a little extra time to visit Vietnam and she fell in love with the country.

Hoping to discover more about the country and its people, Emily returned to Vietnam and participated in “English for All”, an English teaching project of the Global Language Cooperation Company in Hanoi.

“English for All” is a community-based project, benefiting children of all ages while providing standard English education for pupils in difficult circumstances. After a short time, many of them have made significant progress.

Regular outdoor activities have helped the kids have lively and interesting lessons when their parents don’t have time to entertain them.

These classes also have helped Tran Tung Tam, an autistic child integrate with other kids.

Besides Emily, there are many other foreign volunteers who work with Vietnamese pupils and all the teachers have volunteered to contribute their basic salaries to the classes or charity programmes at the centre in remote areas in the northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam such as Yen Bai, Son La and Ha Giang.
