VietNamNet Bridge – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved an additional US $30 million to develop the forestry sector.

The fund comes from the World Bank's International Development Association, raising the total received to $99.8 million.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said more funds were necessary because of the increasing demand for forestry loans.

The forestry sector certifies owners of forests which comply with environmental and social standards, thus increasing the value of the products and enabling them to compete in markets with stringent product origin requirements.
